I think all plastic bottles should be banned ! I cant get over how many there are here . They are discarded on the road side, all along the pavement , thrown in the Bosphorus and left on the ground in the parks- everywhere! Its a tragedy! Sellers stand in the middle of the motorway traffic selling cold water in small bottles and they sit on the pavement with buckets/ large bowls full of bottles for sale. 14-16 million people in the city, Do the calculations ! We are making every attempt to minimise our purchase of these but it is the only way to get fresh clean water unfortunately. We have been buying 10 litres and refilling 1-2 small recycled bottles.
The streets are covered in rubbish especially by the end of the day . There are few rubbish bins so people just litter or even when there is a bin nearby they still just drop it and walk away. Household bags of rubbish discarded on the road side and in empty lots/ vacant blocks of land or in old building sites. The rubbish collectors are either individuals employed to 'work' and area a scoop up the rubbish, or large rubbish trucks negotiate down narrow streets late at night collecting .( another sight to be seen)
