The land that the Hope Centre has been built on has been donated by an elder who lives above the centre. AS land is expensive and salaried low there is not alot of choice as to how accessible gifted land and where it is.
When it rains, as it has been for the last 5 days, patients tend not to come to the centre as the main form of transport is .....walking! Occasionally children are transported on motor cycles or for people who can pay ( the minority ) it can cost 100-200 rupees to get a porter to bring you here. Young, very slightly built mothers carry their disabled children on their backs wrapped in a shawl. Some have traveled by crowded bus or jeep for 2-8 hours or more!
Hopefully in the next year the access you can see below will be sealed .
