Denied entry to India-9th October

After travelling from Chatara on a local bus for the best part of a day we arrived at the border to enter India. We presented our passports and Indian Visa which was a double entry visa expiring at the beginning of November. The official looked at the visas and then our passports and noticed that we had entered India in September and exited on the same day - when Kashmir feel through and we decided to go to Nepal we had to still fly from London to Delhi and from there we arranged a flight to Nepal. Due to the inexperience of the young woman at the check at Heathrow , London , she did not check our bags all the way through to Kathmandu so we had to enter India and leave on the same day. The official at the Indian border kindly pointed out, in an Indian accent, ' cant you read English! " . On our Visa's it stated you had to have 90 days between visits and because we had entered India for a few hours in the Delhi terminal we within 90 days ! The official said we could not enter and we had to go to Kathmandu( another days trip) to the Indian Embassy and seek a waiver on our visas to enter within the 90 day period ! Horrors! We tried to explain that we had only spent 3 hours in the airport and not technically entered India. Mark told him he was being overly 'officious' and after that he looked away and started scratching the desk top with a screw driver he obtained from the drawer under his desk , ignoring us completely! I felt like crying at the thought of 15 hours in a bus back to Kathmandu and even then it wasn't certain we would get a wavier! Eventually after some pleading and another official looking at our passports and listening to us he reluctantly allowed us to enter. We only hope that when we go to leave we dont have another ordeal!
